The videos shared on the distributor’s social networking site to promote the Update product range misled consumers about the health properties of the products, with messages such as “diabetes is cured, high blood pressure is overcome”. In addition to claims referring to the prevention and treatment of diseases, claims about the company’s market position, market leadership and the composition of its products, e.g. “sugar-free, reduced carbohydrate content”, were also found to be dishonest.
As for one product (honey substitute syrup), the company falsely gave the impression that it could be legally marketed, when according to the NÉBIH’s opinion it was placed on the market illegally.
As the company admitted the violations and cooperated with the authority, the fine was reduced to HUF 40 million.
